Abstract

Societies are based on families and all societies have been seen to develop systems, processes and cultural patterns that stabilize families. Marriage is often the basis of family. To that extent it has been seen that all major religions do not allow divorce. Thus, feminists claim that the right to divorce as advancement in the rights of women. They often criticize and fight for the women to choose marriage/marriage partner and even to annul marriage if required. According to feminism, women are unfairly treated in society, which prioritises the view point of men. Fighting against gender stereotypes and enhancing women's educational, professional and interpersonal chances and outcomes are some ways to improve this. Feminist movements have fought for women’s rights, including the ability to vote, work, receive equal salary, own property, receive an education, have equal rights in marriage and enjoy paid maternity leave. Feminist movements have also influenced changes in female dress codes and the types of physical activity that are appropriate for females. This research was carried out to get knowledge about divorce and its effects on people and society. Material was collected from different sources and pilot study was taken by the researcher. This research study will be very helpful for future researchers. It will help in determining economic and social factors which lead to divorce and how one can overcome the problem. It will also be fruitful to make people aware about the problems created by divorce and enlighten people about the duties towards divorced.
